As winds down—with its series finale airing Tuesday, March 28—Boreanaz and Deschanel reflect on bringing the drama to its end.

The actor, currently starring in Sky1 crime drama Bones, decided to come clean over his infidelity to his wife Jaime Bergman after a former mistress threatened to sell her story.

Then she appeared in Cold Mountain, The Alamo, and Glory Road and was named one of "six actresses to watch" by Interview Magazine in 2004. Temperance Brennan with David Boreanaz as FBI agent Seeley Booth on the Fox crime procedural comedy-drama Bones, based on the novels and the career of forensic anthropologist and author Kathy Reichs, created by Hart Hanson.

Obviously we knew going into this last season that these were our last twelve episodes, our last season. So by the end [of the night shoot], I wanted to go home. And then there are you, and it was goodbye, and we had to go to the next set up. David, was there any particular touch you put into the finale because you were the one directing it? And then it was like, you can't sit down and be comfortable.

Every step there was "lasts": this was our last Upfronts, this was our last season premiere. It was cold, it was windy, and a lot of stuff that had to be shot in the two days we had to shoot. I do remember, for me, when I was done, I went to my trailer, I cracked open a cold beer, and I watched the [Philadelphia] Flyers highlights. [] It was like in the morning and I was finished, and I was all bloody and dirty from all the work, and I just had a moment to myself. And 20 minutes before [I wrapped], he said, "I think I could get you out." And he did. Boreanaz: I just wanted to take [my personal feelings] out of it and have the ensemble enjoy it. Boreanaz: It was physically demanding because the lab was destroyed. Deschanel: We all were coughing up black stuff for days. Nothing feels comfortable about that; nothing feels like the lab we knew. I tried to get into the FBI stages and the doors were locked.

You could follow the trail of tears to where I was.

Boreanaz: It's such a give and take between the two of us. Deschanel: It’s rare as an actor to work on something for so long and have a character evolve so much. I feel like our fans were always so loyal and they always found us wherever we were, no matter how many times they bounced us around. It's a big thing to be immortalized on a plaque outside of a stage.

For her performance, she received a 2006 Satellite Award nomination and a 2007 Teen Choice Award nomination.
